Costa Rica 2001

Steve Levey invited me to go to Costa Rica with him on an Earthwatch Research expedition.  The project was working with Rainforest Caterpillars and their endoparasites and ectoparasites.  The investigator was Lee Dyer, Ph. D. from Tulane University.  Also helping with this project was Grant Gentry, Ph. D.   The research site was La Selva Biological Station in eastern Costa Rica.  The project involved collecting and rearing caterpillars, plant sampling, surveying, bullet ant nectaries, and get educated on the ecology of the rainforest.  I would get up at sunrise to bird watch and then do work on the caterpillars until 3:00 pm and then look for herps until bed time.  Thank you Steve for this opportunity to go on this trip.
